8/22/2011 : Louisiana Sheriffs endorse Commissioner of Agriculture Mike Strain for re-election
The Louisiana Sheriffs’ Association announces today its official endorsement of Commissioner of Agriculture Mike Strain in his re-election campaign.

Strain’s endorsement was by acclamation by all of the sheriffs in attendance at a meeting conducted on July 13, 2011, at the Association’s annual conference

In endorsing Commissioner Strain, Michael Ranatza, executive director of the Association said, “The vote to endorse Mike Strain for Commissioner of Agriculture and Forestry was based upon the continued partnership between Commissioner Strain and the sheriff’s offices throughout the state.  Louisiana Sheriffs appreciate the support provided by Mr. Strain for all of their agriculture needs.  Particularly, Commissioner Strain came to the aid of Louisiana Sheriffs during emergency times, such as during the recent flooding of the Mississippi River, therefore we are proud to endorse him in his re-election campaign.”

The Louisiana Sheriffs’ Association is a bipartisan organization, composed of Louisiana’s 64 sheriffs and nearly 14,000 deputy sheriffs, established to represent Louisiana’s chief law enforcement officers across the state.  The Association’s purpose is to maintain the constitutional authority of the sheriff as chief law enforcement officer, ensure the delivery of first-rate services, and to sponsor legislation that promotes the administration of criminal justice.
